Bypass the Windows XP Log On Screen

To make logon an unattended process:
Click [Start] [Run] and type
control userpasswords2
Click [OK]
The [User Accounts] Property Sheet displays.
On [Users] tab, clear the [Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer] check box.
Click [Apply].
Enter a user name and password that should be used to logon automatically in the dialog box that appears.
Click [OK].
Go to [Control Panel] [User Accounts] [Change the Way Users Log On and Off].
Uncheck [Use the Welcome Screen] and [Use Fast User Switching]

System Restore in Windows Vista
In the case of a problem on your computer that cannot be solved by normal means, you can restore your computer back to a previous working state without affecting your personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos. To do this you need to start System Restore so that you can choose the restore point to restore. If you can log into Windows Vista, then you should follow these steps.
Click on the Start button, click on the All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking System Tools, and then clicking System Resotre. After you click on the icon, if a User Account Control window opens you should click on the Continue button. |

Quick Launch problem in Windows XP

You should be able to drag icon(s) to the Quick Launch (box red above) easily. However, there are times where you may have problems. The other way of having your favourite program(s) in the Quick Launch toolbar is to open Windows Explorer (Start > All Programs > Accessories) and navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\ {your account} \Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch. Drag the icon(s) into this folder, it will appear on Quick Launch. To view Application Data folder you need to 'Show hidden files and folders'. |
